Step Federer Baghdatis Terminated


Roger Federer failed to move into the quarter-finals of the ATP tennis tournament Indian Wells. Step number one world player Swiss player was stopped by Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis, who beat her with a 5-7, 7-5, 7-6, Tuesday (16/3/10) local time.

Federer, who always beat Baghdatis in six previous meetings, tiebreak at 4-7 up. Failure to restore service to ensure Baghdatis won eight rounds of the ticket, to meet with Spanish player Tommy Robredo, who won 6-3, 6-0 to Dudi Sela of Israel players.

"Seven is my lucky number," said Baghdatis on the sidelines, after the match that took two hours 22 minutes.

"I do not know what to say. I am very happy. This is a great victory for me," added the player with the ATP ranking of 27.

Earlier, British fourth seed Andy Murray advanced to make sure the quarter-finals. Former world number two player was passed after the United States beat Michael Russell with a 6-3, 7-5.
